When we endeavor to understand the truth, we find its threads in many places. And following our heart’s calling, we weave a tapestry that is unique to us. Many teachings, philosophies, and perspectives are woven into my work; here I share in brief about the my greatest influences and how they shape my offerings.

Deep Nature Connection

Much of the deep nature connection practices that I share, including Wildlife Tracking, were passed to me by Tom Brown, Jr. and Jon Young. Tom was mentored by a Lipan Apache man named Stalking Wolf in the ancient ways of living with the Earth. When the time came for Tom to find a student of his own, he recognized Jon Young as his prospect, and mentored him in the same way Tom had been mentored by Stalking Wolf.

As Tom recounts, Stalking Wolf spent his life seeking ‘universal truths’, those that transcended culture or belief systems, and Tom often referenced Stalking Wolf’s passion for these truths to be shared forward to the future generations. I have immense gratitude for the beauty and power within these teachings, for those who have carried it preciously through time, and passed it forward for the benefit of all beings.

While I can only share my own lived experience of what I have learned through this lineage, it is my honor and commitment to support others in deepening connection with the Earth — a way of being that was re-awakened for me through these earth-based practices.

Energy and Bodywork

I have been fascinated by the energetic realms of reality my entire life. My first ‘training’ as a young adult was in Reiki, quickly followed by studies in Shamanic practices. I actually chose to become a massage therapist because I wanted a way to practice energy medicine consistently. Doing bodywork for over 20 years allowed me to explore and get a huge amount of hands-on experience with many modalities in a grounded way. I learned the silent language of the body, the subconscious, and through this doorway, the voice of Spirit.

The Chakra system and Spirit realm came into focus when I met Paula Kim in Santa Fe, NM who became my teacher and mentor for many years. She taught me how to navigate the multi-dimensionality of being and the intricacies of our energy bodies, and to find my own way of working within that realm, with my own unique perspective and gifts.

Interspecies Communication

As a child, I considered my domestic companions to be my tribe. I wanted to be with them all the time, and we seemed to be right on the same wavelength :) Our communication was mostly in the form of shared presence, deep understanding, and unconditional love.

Meeting the Dolphins and Whales as a pre-teen changed my life. Feeling who they are and tuning into their unique intelligence opened something profound in my energy system. I did not attempt to put words to it, because what they conveyed was so vastly different from the reality I experienced. My consciousness shifted and expanded rapidly during that time of my life when I was able to see them often. These early experiences shaped how I approach interspecies communication today: as a natural phenomenon that emerges out of connection and moves us into dynamic relationship.

Herbal Medicine and 5 Elements Theory

Studying Herbal Medicine through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, and Western Herbalism was a deepening in both my understanding of our energy bodies and interspecies communication. I discovered how connecting with the plants to feel their qualities and vibration, and to understand who they are as a whole being, greatly empowers their medicine. Learning the flow of the five elements, through our bodies and through Nature, created yet another bridge between the physical, the mind and emotions, and Spirit.

Neuroscience and Psycho-education

My most recent research endeavors are in the science of the mind and the spiritual implications therein. Increased awareness of how we process information, and envisioning the workings of the mind and its interplay with the body, opens us to the possibility of self-mastery, and at least, greatly enriches the human experience.

Interpersonal Neurobiology is a deep dive into the human mind and includes theory of Complex Systems. It aligns beautifully with the earth-based teachings I have received, and has been a potent addition to my healing work, subtle communication skills, and practices that I teach.

Gratitude

I am truly grateful for the path I have chosen, for faith, and perseverance. I'm grateful for the teachers, mentors, and wisdom keepers, the other-than-human animals and Nature, who have supported and guided me and continue to do so. The calling to share what I have learned is inspired by my own struggles and longings, and my passion to journey with others ever deeper into this mystery of life.
